In Maasai, Patinaai Osim means “the one who brings me joy”.
Patinaai Osim works alongside rural Kenyan communities to uplift women, nurture children and restore dignity. Its focus is on supporting Indigenous Maasai women and children in Kajiado County, Kenya, where access to resources and opportunity remains limited.
Seven years ago, Carolyn, owner of Warrandyte Travel & Cruise, first met Patinaai Osim’s founder, Semerian Sankori, during a visit to distribute much-needed sanitary towels to girls in local schools. That first act of kindness and support sparked an enduring partnership.
What began as an open paddock has become a thriving community centre, built through fundraising and determination. Today, it is a safe gathering place where women connect, learn new skills and earn an income. Sometimes that income means something as simple - and as life-changing - as buying a sheet of tin for the roof of their home (enkaji), to collect rainwater and establish a kitchen garden to feed their family.
Yet significant challenges remain. Water and electricity are scarce. For the centre to truly flourish, access to reliable power is essential. Electricity would increase productivity in the sewing room, create opportunities for the greater community and enable more women to develop income generating skills.
When you book your travel through Warrandyte Travel & Cruise, you are supporting the work of Patinaai Osim. Together, we can help drive lasting change empowering women, strengthening families and building brighter futures.
